BONNIE’S
RACE, AND THE STORY OF BONNIE (continuation). |
|
DECISIONS
It was decided that when the time came Bonnie was to have her
usual routine, with the drug used for euthanasia introduced into
the drip to gently put her to sleep. That’s what eventually
happened when a womb infection meant that the toxin levels in her
body rose too high for her system to cope with. The previous week
she had a small seizure due to the toxins in her system and we
knew she was then very much on borrowed time. When she had
another, Senior Vet Jeremy admitted her overnight, and gently
inserted the catheter in the usual way.
|
Siriol re-examined her the next morning and the
decision was made to quietly send her to sleep Bonnie knew nothing
about it.
|
A proper end for a faithful friend who was loved
by, and photographed with, the many people who met her.
|
During the last year of her short 10 year life she
had brought hope and inspiration to countless cancer sufferers,
and immense pleasure to literally thousands of others who watched
her and the others perform. The Team have heard from several of
the many people who shared Bonnie’s illness and came to see her
after her performances, and all say they were strengthened and
heartened by her courage and example.

Bonnie will never be forgotten, especially at
Christmas when that sleigh comes out!!
